Monthly Favourites | August

01:16:00

I know I am super late in posting my August favourites, but hey it's better late than never. If you follow me on Instagram (@thehanihanii) or Twitter (@thehanihanii), you would have noticed that I have been pretty occupied with uni and this is my final year. So bear with me loves, only three more months to go then I'm done. :)

For this month's post, I have teamed up with two of my buddies, Julie (Haute Flashes) and Thy (Biscuits & Makeup), to do a collaboration post. You may or may not know them, I will link their blogs at the end of this post. I personally can't wait to find out what they have been loving lately and what they think of them.

Without further ado, let's get started with my August Favourites!
This month has been all about the strobing game. The Ambient Lighting Palette includes three of their famous soft-focus finishing powders. One is a limited edition shade, Incandescent Light, and the other two are Dim Light and Radiant Light, which are part of their existing range. This palette is perfect for you if you like a healthy glow instead of an intense highlight. It will make your face look lit from within. I usually dust Dim Light under my eyes and Incandescent Light on the high points on my face. When my skin is feeling extra dull, I would use this as a face powder to get my healthy glow back.

Laura Mercier Face Illuminator Powder - Indiscretion

For my everyday highlight, I have been reaching for the Indiscretion highlighter from Laura Mercier. This is a limited edition and is part of their Un Été À Ibiz a Collection. I'm so sorry I had to include this. It is too beautiful to not mention and it reminds me of shiny silk, I just want to roll in it. Indiscretion is a rose gold highlight with tiny gold shimmers, it is a perfect shade for light to medium skin tones with warm undertones. The texture is soft and very blendable. You can definitely build it up with this highlight and get an intense pop on the cheekbones. I knew I had to get it when I first saw people posting on Instagram. This was a hard-to-get product and there was a long waiting list for it. After a month or so, this baby has finally found its way home and I have been loving it since.

I have finally picked up one of these concealers to try and this really lives up to the hype. It is really creamy, lightweight and easy to blend. Sand is a little lighter than my skin tone, I use it to brighten my under eye area after I have concealed those panda eyes. You know, the inverted triangle or 'v' shape trick. This helps to give more life and definition to my face after foundation, so it doesn't look as flat. Many people have said that this is a great dupe for the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, but I don't own one, so I can't compare for you guys.

Moving on to my favourite face product of the month. This CC cream from It Cosmetics is no joke. It has a thick, creamy consistency and it blends out nicely. It doesn't get cakey throughout the day or cling onto dry patches. The coverage is perfect, it is the highest of all the BB, CC and tinted moisturisers I own. I usually apply it with a beauty blender and it has kept my skin feeling good and hydrated during the winter months. It Cosmetics could be hard to find in Australia. I ordered mine off Ulta through a forwarding company. I think base products are the hardest to buy online, it is so tricky to choose the right shade. For your reference, I am in the shade medium. I'm so glad I picked this over light, light would have been too pale for me and medium is just right.

Hands down this is the cutest blush I own to date! The packaging is on point, the heart shaped compact reminds me so much of Polly Pocket and it brings back memories. (Who knows what I'm talking about? *High 5*) Baby Love is described as “soft dusty nude with fine gold sparkle.” On me, it is a warm neutral shade, great for everyday and it goes with a lot of makeup looks. The gold shimmer and sparkle are very finely milled that they are not noticeable when applied, in fact they give a nice sheen to the cheeks. Pigmentation is decent and buildable to an opaque finish. The texture is soft and lightweight, it is also easy to blend and sits comfortably on the skin. This blush claims to last 16 hours, however, it only lasted about 8-9 hours on me. If you ignore their claim, it is nonetheless a great blush providing decent lasting power.

Apart from eyeshadow and blush, another product range I love from Colourpop is their Lippie Stix. Frida is described as a "warm mid tone nude pink with a satin finish". Coffee Break With Dani created this lipstick shade in collaboration with Colourpop. It is the perfect nude lipstick for me - nude, pink and peach all mashed together. I've had a hard time looking for a nude lip that suits my skin tone and most of the time they are too light for me, they washed me out and made me look ill. This shade is appropriate to wear to school, to work or even a night out with your friends. The texture is very creamy and easy to wear, it doesn't dry out my lips. This is the lipstick I would go for if I don't know which one to wear to complement my makeup look, because it is so versatile. I just throw it on and it will go with the rest of my face. I love it!
