Ulta3 Tribal Talk Collection*

Some new liquid lipsticks have just landed on my desk recently and they are from the Australian brand ulta3. (Does anyone still remember their $2 nail polishes?) They are making a come back with an extensive makeup and body care range.

Ulta3 is known for offering great quality products at an unbeatable price point. In their newest Tribal Talk collection, they have launched five Ultamatte Longwear Matte Lip Creams ($7.95 AUD) and their matching Longwear Lip Liners ($4.95 AUD). Super matte, velvety finish with an intensely pigmented and non-drying formula – sounds like a dream.

The vibrant lip shades in the collection range from soft peach to striking fuchsia to deep plum, inspired by the wild and contrasting colours of the tropical jungle. While they are perfect for the upcoming Spring and Summer in Australia, some of the darker shades are also very suitable to wear in the cooler months.

The Longwear Matte Lip Creams have a whipped moussy texture, which reminded me a lot of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet. Very lightweight and comfortable on the lips that it didn't feel like I was wearing anything.

In terms of staying power, they are not the longest lasting because of the creamy consistency, but they are decent. I could get around 3-5 hours wear and the darker shades tend to leave a nice stain behind.

Also, they are not 100% transfer-proof but they do dry completely matte. It doesn’t bother me too much as I personally prefer this is the kind of liquid lipstick formula. I would rather reapply than have over-drying lips. I choose comfort over everything! So be careful if you or your partner were wearing a white top, you wouldn't want to leave any stain.

I never used to think much about lip liners until I realised how a good lip liner can totally change your pout game. The Longwear Lip Liners apply smoothly around the lips without tugging or pulling. They help to create a solid base for the lip cream to adhere to, also to intensify and prolong the wear of the lip colour. Lining your lips ensures your lip application is a breeze.

The cap on each lip liner also has an in-built sharpener – it’s genius! Simply hold the cap and twist the liner. Voilà, perfectly sharpened tips every time. Now you can precisely line your lips without a worry.

I am so pleasantly surprised by the colour payoff of both the lip creams and lip liners. They are intensely pigmented and they apply evenly on the lips. See it for yourself in the swatches below. At such affordable price point, you can't ask for more. My favourite shades have to be Hunter Gatherer and Wild Fire.

From left to right (lip liner, lip cream):

Hunter Gatherer - deep berry
Tribe Pride - pop of fuschia
Wild Fire - sizzling hot red
Free Spirit - playful pink
Amazon Orange - creamy bold orange
